The Willacy County Medical Health Advisory Coalition empowers communities to achieve optimal health, reduce food insecurity, and create a thriving future for all residents.

Our vision is to create a resilient community where Willacy County has access to nutritious food and the opportunity to achieve overall well-being.

Our aim is to collaborate with our community to reduce food insecurity, promote healthy living, and empower individuals and families to thrive in Willacy County.


Our Leadership Structure

The Steering Committee operates under a two-tiered leadership structure. They meet separately from the coalition to provide guidance, support, and strategic direction to the coalition.

Hunger Work Group – The Hunger Work Group focuses on addressing the root causes and needs of food security in Willacy County. This group works to ensure equitable access to nutritious food and identifies gaps in food distribution. The work group collaborates with local food banks, pantries and other organizations to provide resources and long-term solutions to alleviate hunger.

Community Health Work Group – The Community Health Group is dedicated to improving the overall health and well-

being of the community by addressing the social determinants of health, including nutrition healthcare access, and health education. This group works on initiatives that disseminate information to individuals about healthcare services and healthy lifestyles. They aim to empower the community to make informed health decisions and foster a healthier environment.
