Camp Freedom - Robotics
Details
About this camp
Camp Freedom - Robotics provides children living with diabetes with an opportunity to form long lasting friendships, and the support and reassurance they need in knowing that they are not the only ones living with diabetes. Camp Freedom - Robotics is a weeklong day camp that introduces campers to the design and programming of robots under the guidance of students majoring in engineering and computer science.
Because diabetes in children impacts the entire family this day camp also includes siblings, so they can learn how to support their brother or sister living with the disease. Children ages 6 to 14 participate as campers, while high school age youth are invited to apply for a Junior Counselor position. Adults age 18 or older are invited to apply as Counselors or for other adult volunteer roles. Health professionals, educators, and parents of children with diabetes provide staff supervision throughout the camp program.
