When: June 14-16, 2013 Where: UTPA, 1201 West University, Edinburg, Texas Registration Deadline: June 10, 2013. Fee: $15 for children with diabetes and $25 for siblings. Who: Children with type 1 & 2 diabetes and their siblings ages 8 through 17. What: A residential/day summer camp for children who have diabetes and their siblings.Camp Freedom provides a camp experience for children with diabetes Camp Freedom participants form long lasting friendships that provide support and reassurance which helps participants know that they are not the only ones living with diabetes. Because diabetes affects the whole family, the whole family is encouraged to participate in camp. Health professionals, educators and parents of children with diabetes provide staff supervision throughout the camp program under the guidance of Dr. Twahirwa with Joslin Diabetes Center.
